Zebrawood Knife Strip

Zebrawood Knife Strip

Knife strips, you know the drill generally.

Just like most of the knife strips I've made recently, this comes from a custom order that I received. More info and pics after the jump...

Horizontal Grain Lines Make Great Visual Contrast
This strip is made from zebrawood. Zebrawood, as the other post discusses, is a hard, dense, African hardwood with a distinctive striped grain pattern. Its grain is highly visible and much more regular than some other woods with similar appearance, like marblewood. The regularity of its grain running the length of the piece makes for a great visual contrast with the perpendicular lines of the knives.

Just like usual there are 17 rare earth magnets embedded in the knife strip as well as two keyhole mounting slots. A couple screws into a wall or cabinet and this will hold tight to the wall.

Also just like usual, the wood has just been finished with a few coats of mineral oil. Every so often, it would be a good idea to give it a refresher coat, just to keep its color nice and even and to renew its protective qualities.

Thank you again for the order, and I'm happy to take custom requests for this or other things as well. Just let me know.
